  1. Breathtakingly Gorgeous: Check out Travel Alberta Instagram and see for yourself! The fine folks over at Travel Alberta curate these gorgeous photos using #ExploreAlberta, a source of great inspiration to head outdoors and enjoy the mind-blowing scenery.
  2. Rich in culture and history: All of the provincial historic sites and museums are dedicated to telling Alberta’s story—and they want to share it with you. All the historic sites and museums that are normally open at this time of year are offering free admissions and in most cases, special programming.
  3. Stuffed with delicious eats: from well-known restaurants to hidden gems, Alberta has a ton of options to tickle your taste. Buzzfeed helpfully compiled a list of 23 cheap places to eat in Canada…if you’re in southern Alberta, check out 1, 11, 17 and 18! If you’re in the capitol region, Huffington Post has a handy list for you!
  4. Outdoor Fun, even in the winter!: There’s a Family FISHtival in Calgary, opportunities to go ice skating or snowshoeing among other winter activities (Sir Winston Churchill Park, Crimson Lake, Moonshine Lake, Miquelon Lake; Survival Saturday, Lesser Slave Lake) or check out the Canadian Birkebeiner (check for details regarding locations).
  5. DIY Friendly: There is so much to do in Alberta that we built the Alberta Culture Calendar to help keep track of the treasure trove of activities taking place throughout the province! Use the calendar or the app to build a customize itinerary this long weekend!
