Sunday Nov. 8 from noon to 4 p.m., Rutherford House welcomes you to remember and celebrate the courageous Canadian men and women of World War 1, both at war and on the home front.
Learn about a time in our history, that includes information tidbits about what families and community groups put in the comfort packages sent overseas to the soldiers, or what particular sock pattern was used to knit socks for the soldiers.
You can also enjoy a sampling of appetizing recipes from that time period and hear the historic sounds of piper Chris Arbter commemorating the Canadian and British bagpipers of the Great War who rallied the troops and led them into battle. Edmonton’s fifth Poet Laureate, Mary Pinkoski, will also be at the event, reading recitations of poems of the Great War.
