OFD 1

Are you overdue for a road trip? Are you hankering for greener pastures? Are you looking for something a little different that is also fun to do with the family?

Knowing where our food comes from is important so why not take advantage of Alberta Open Farm Days (Aug 20-21) and see it for yourself!

Over 90 Alberta farmers and ranchers are ready to welcome city and country folk alike to share a farm fresh experience. Alberta Open Farm Days makes it easy to plan your visit to working farms throughout our province.

On August 20 and 21, foodies can enjoy a taste of what’s brewing and growing on Alberta farms and ranches. Reserve your seat at a cowboy style supper complete with a wild west show, feast on an authentic Ukrainian banquet, or celebrate huckleberries with a pancake breakfast. Reserve your seat now for one, two… or even three of the more than 20 farm-to-table culinary experiences prepared by local chefs listed on the Alberta Open Farm Days site.

On Sunday August 21, families are welcome to explore working farms. See how a live beehive operates, find your way out of a corn maze, or visit one of the many petting pens. Admission to all farms is free with many offering free-to-see demonstrations and others offering activities like horseback rides for a fee.

Many of these producers sell their products from farm direct; bring your cooler and pack a bit of your farm fresh experience back with you to the city.

Say “see ya later” to city life and head over to Alberta Open Farm Days where you can choose your experience and plan your route for your own farm fresh experience on August 20 and 21!
