Ever want to try your hand on a 20 km circuit professional biking circuit? Try the Tour of Alberta’s Stage 4 and Stage 5. Velothon Edmonton marks the first time that one of the UCI Velothon Majors takes place outside of Europe. You can either do the 60 km or 100 km distances which will make your heart race but save your energy for a memorable charge towards the Tour of Alberta finish line! The ATB Financial Family Ride is the perfect opportunity to get out on your bikes and ride part of the Tour of Alberta route at your own pace. Tour of Alberta Travelling Festivals
The Tour of Alberta wouldn’t be the same with out the festivals! This year, Lethbridge, Olds, Rocky Mountain House, Drayton Valley, and Edmonton are the host communities putting on festivals during each of the five race stages. Admission is free, so if you happen to catch Tour of Alberta fever, you can follow the peloton and visit as many as you like. Each festival location has its own unique mix of kids’ activities, delicious food, music, vendor booths, and healthy-living programming. See festival dates and details here!
The Main Event: Tour of Alberta
Last year, 47 million viewers worldwide tuned in to watch the Tour of Alberta, one of the biggest cycling events in the Americas. This year, it is a five-day road cycling stage race that has attracted 120 of some of the world’s top cyclists willing to challenge themselves on our mountains, foothills, and parkland. Come out to greet and cheer on the cyclists when they roll into your area and show your Alberta pride!
